Product that helps advisory firms discover and share insights from news, social and subscription media sources to strengthen client relationships and drive new business.

How it started

This is what the product looked like when I joined the team.

Problem: too much content was hard to digest. It was difficult to use and we didn’t see as much engagement as we wanted. Our users are director’s and CEO’s who are always on the go and need to get their news fast and News Analytics was not providing that at that point.

Research

The goal of the research was to:

• Learn what people find useful in our product and what they are looking for.

• What doesn’t work in the current product.

• What they would like to see changed and what would be the value of those updates.

Quotes from interviews

“Couldn’t find the industry dropdown”

“What is the score?”

“What does plus and minus mean”

“I want to track specific topics by date range.”

Iterations

In the first round of iteration we added a comparison feature that lets companies compare the health score of their company with competitors. We are also providing more personalized content giving them ability to browse through specific industry news as well as news on their company. There was also another tab implemented called “ESG” that lets them learn about ESG news.

Second round of User Testing

“I want to predict the future of a specific insight so I can make a decision.”

“I need to be able to pivot change and quickly in regard to how a topic is being perceived and how that may affect me.”

“I want to be more informed on current topics and how people are perceiving current events pertaining to my company.”

User Journey

Final iteration

Final round of testing showed that there were still few usability issues. I implemented changes based on what I learned from testing.

Final Design

In this last round of iteration we added few more features.

Industry feature provides top news and stories on selected industries. Based on the negative or positive volume of articles we assign Health Score to the industry which is broken down to six categories that can be filtered down.

Company page is dedicated to a company that the user is part of. Company news and stories can be viewed on that page and similar to the Industry page we assign company health score. In addition to Health Score there is an ESG score, comparison with competitors, companies with similar circumstances and a projected outlook.

ESG Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance refers to the three central factors in measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an investment in a company or business. These criteria helps to better determine the future financial performance of companies (return and risk). ESG scores by industry, location and date.
